Free Health and Safety Advice for Employers
16/06/2009
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced that it will give away its guides on workplace safety for free from this autumn.
Over £1million worth of currently paid-for publications will be made available on the internet, in a move designed to help small businesses who may struggle to get hold of the right advice on what health and safety means in practical terms.
Around 250 publications containing health and safety advice and guidance will be posted on the HSE website from September, in PDF format for people to view and print.
The guides cover the full range of HSE’s guidance as well as detailed information on associated codes of practice and safety regulations.
The initiative was announced by HSE chairwoman Judith Hackitt at the launch of the HSE’s new strategy earlier this month.
The HSE said it was making the information available in order to give employers a better understanding of their legal duties and what health and safety precautions they needed to take.
