Business Solutions Simplified

Businesses of all sizes will find it easier to tap into publicly-funded support with a major shake-up of products available.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform has streamlined more than 3,000 support schemes to just 30, bringing them together under the banner Solutions for Business. All the support schemes are available via Business Link.

The government says the new support scheme portfolio, which took effect from 31 March, will make it easier for businesses to find the right products to help with common business issues, including getting started, growth and development, finance, the environment, export, innovation and skills.

Among the schemes available under the Solutions for Business banner are Train to Gain, Small Loans for Businesses, the Enterprise Finance Guarantee and Grants for Research and Development.
 
Barry Lewis, senior partner at Harris Lipman, said: “Streamlining a complex system of support schemes in this way makes real sense.

“Businesses face many challenges in normal times, let alone today’s challenging economic climate, so anything that helps them to access and understand the help available quickly and easily makes sense.”
