Harris Lipman going for gold in 'Not the Olympics 2012'

While athletes around the world prepare to transport the Olympic torch from Athens to London for next year’s Olympics, London-based chartered accountancy firm Harris Lipman have been gearing up for a challenge of their own.

The firm is taking part in the UK200Group’s “Not the Olympics 2012” charity campaign, which aims to raise thousands of pounds for Alzheimer’s Society. Participating member firms have been tasked with relaying an Olympic-style torch by imaginative forms of transportation across the country.

Today (November 10) participating members of staff from Harris Lipman will be completing the final leg of the Not the Olympic relay starting from their London office.

In keeping with the theme, 16 members of staff will be dressed in different Olympic sports kits, while those who come down to support the team on the day will also witness senior partner, Barry Lewis, arriving at the stadium surrounded by his ‘athletes’.

On Monday the firm received the torch from fellow London-based accountants Berg Kaprow Lewis, who transported the torch on a tandem bicycle ridden by managing partner Brian Berg and tax partner David Whiscombe.

The torch began its mammoth journey in Perth, Scotland in May and the challenge will finish at the Olympic Stadium in London.
