Harris Lipman Partner Gains Audit Status
12/05/2010
A partner at London chartered accountants and insolvency practitioners Harris Lipman has completed the final stage of his accountancy training after being confirmed as a ‘Responsible Individual’ within the firm, a status which allows him to personally sign off audit reports.
Russell Whitlock, 33, joined Harris Lipman as an audit senior in 2003, and was subsequently promoted to audit manager, before becoming a partner in April last year. As well as preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, he is widely experienced in company audit and taxation.
During his time with the firm, he has worked closely with senior partner Barry Lewis in advising clients on business development, as well as taking a leading role in the training and mentoring of team members.
In order to become officially certified as a Responsible Individual, Russell had to keep a record of his audit work over the last three years, to prove he had achieved a certain level of experience and competence.
Russell said achieving Responsible Individual status at his age was a very prestigious achievement, following his similarly rapid promotion to partner last year.
He said: “I’m fortunate to have been given a lot of responsibility very quickly and it’s thanks to the early contact I was given with clients and the support I’ve received from my fellow partners, together with a great deal of hard work that I’ve been able to achieve this.”
“Having me as a Responsible Individual strengthens Harris Lipman’s capacity to deliver a quality service to audit clients, as we now have four members eligible to sign audit reports.”
