Harris Lipman Gets Into World Cup Spirit

25/06/2010

England’s footballers may have bowed out of the World Cup with a dismal defeat to Germany on Sunday – but it was a different story last Wednesday when the team from Harris Lipman took time out from their desks to cheer Fabio Capello’s men on as they overcame Slovenia to reach the last 16.

With England needing a win to progress to the next round, interest in the match was high, and around 200 guests gathered in the spectacular Argyll Room and terrace overlooking Hyde Park at No 4 Hamilton Place in Central London to lend their support.

The Harris Lipman team were joined by clients and associates for pre-match drinks and nibbles, before watching the tense 1-0 win, courtesy of Jermain Defoe’s strike, on the big screen. There was also music and entertainment on an African theme, courtesy of a South African drumming and dancing group.

Senior partner Barry Lewis said: “We were all very excited about the World Cup, and with the final World Cup game taking place during working hours, we decided to get together with some of our clients and friends to watch the game together.

“A good time was certainly had by all, and we left with high hopes that England had finally found their form in this tournament, but sadly it wasn’t to be.”

He also underlined that if England had played with the spirit and guile of the Harris Lipman team, the side would definitely have won the cup hands-down!
