Designer clothes store Richmond Classics has been in business for over 20 years, but having recently moved to Harris Lipman, the owners have found that accountants can do more for them than they previously thought possible.

Founded in 1988, the firm became a client after the accountant they had previously worked with retired, prompting them to look again at what alternatives were available.

Harris Lipman now prepares the firm’s year-end accounts, but their involvement goes far beyond that, offering regular advice and support to help the business to run better.

Finance director Cathy Newby said: “With the changes that were going on at our previous accountants, it seemed a sensible time to look at our options and Harris Lipman, and Barry Lewis in particular, were recommended to our managing director by a friend of his who was also a client of theirs.

“We have found them to be totally refreshing and different to any accountant we’ve dealt with before. They have come up with some great ideas on how to save on tax, for example by claiming back capital allowances which we’ve missed out on before. It’s still a fairly difficult climate for retailers at the moment but Barry is always very positive and optimistic, and the extra money he has saved us has obviously helped.

“Everyone at Harris Lipman seems to buy into the same positive ethos and we have had great service from everyone we’ve dealt with. Whenever we have a meeting with them, we receive back a detailed report on what was discussed and where we go from there, plus I know that they are always available by phone or email if we have any questions in the meantime.

“Harris Lipman always work hard to do more for their clients, and provide them with extra services and support. We attended a networking event they organised at The Ivy in London, where we met some useful contacts who we plan to do business with in future. The event was so well thought through, and they had even ensured everyone was sat by people who they thought may have a shared business interest.

“We have already recommended Harris Lipman to several clients and contacts of ours, and we have heard back very good reports on how Harris Lipman is now saving them money and helping them.
